We began to trickle into the lodge around 8:00am, each of us gripping coffees and cautiously staring at the cloudy sky, hoping for a clear day. As the clouds gave way and the caffeine began to kick in, the group lightened in mood. Laughs broke out over adventure stories and the anticipated hike.
Then we were off.
We hiked up through the mist as the sun cut through the trees and warmed the earth. The trail occasionally spiked, taking us up the mountain that led way to incredible views of the Columbia Gorge.
I’ve added a few pictures, but as we all know, they never quite do the experience justice.
The trail wound back down and ended at the Multnomah Falls Lodge. Hungrily, we migrated into the lodge for a lavish brunch. With mimosas in hand, we toasted the kick-start of the Ethiopia Scholarship Fund, which is just one of the Scholarships under HubWorld Travel’s The Better World Fund.
David Penilton, Co-owner of HubWorld shared his vision and passion for the Ethiopia Scholarship Fund and supporting other organization throughout the world through the Better World Fund, and other initiatives.
Ethiopia is one of many African nations in great need. A single scholarship from HubWorld can greatly impact the life of a student there. Apart from the Ethiopia Scholarship Fund, HubWorld has partnered with additional charities to provide opportunities for the disadvantaged and the traveler alike.
HubWorld will be offering related tours and events in the near future. So come join us next time. Meet
some amazing people, give back a little, and have a great time doing it!
